2021 got off to a very stylish start when H&M announced one of its dreamiest designer collaborations to date.

The high street retailer is launching a collection with Irish designer Simone Rocha on March 11. Except, the exciting announcement quickly sparked a debate online for its perceived lack of size-inclusivity.

When announcing the collaboration, H&M revealed that the collection would be available up to size XS to L (14) in Europe (and up to size XL in the US).

Many took to Twitter expressing their disappointment at the lack of plus sizing, with 2FM presenter Louise McSharry tweeting that there was a ‘bit of a disconnect’ and adding that it is ‘really gutting for more than half the female population who are once again excluded.’

The retailer has clarified the sizing that will be available of the Simone Rocha collection following the questions raised.

On the dedicated page on the H&M site for the collaboration, it explains: ‘the majority of the Simone Rocha x HM women’s collection goes up to size EUR L=44/46 and UK L=16/18…’

Simone Rocha becomes the first Irish designer to collaborate with the Swedish behemoth and she joins the ranks of brands like Giambattista Valli, Comme des Garcons, Erdem and, most recently, The Vampire’s Wife.
