Every year, designers and artists from across the globe gather at Design Miami, an international show featuring some of the world’s greatest talent in the art and design world. Between Dec. 4 and 8, Design Miami and Louis Vuitton will together premiere Swell Wave Shelf by Andrew Kudless—the first American designer to be featured in Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades collection.
Kudless, based out of San Francisco, is the founder of design firm Matsy, as well as an Associate Professor of Architecture at the California College of the Arts. His piece Swell Wave Shelf is an exciting addition to Objects Nomades, a collection of limited-edition furniture pieces that combine Louis Vuitton’s iconic savoir-faire, essential travel spirit, and world-renowned talent.
Swell Wave Shelf features polished oak shelves, at once beautifully undulating and representative of rocks that have eroded and smoothed over time. The end result emulates the delicate balance of the natural world.
Kudless’s piece will be available for viewing from Dec. 4 through 8 at Paradise Plaza in Miami. Visits are by appointment only (contact lv.events@us.louisvuitton.com for reservations).
