With events being cancelled right around the globe due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fashion world is no exception. This week French fashion’s governing body, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, made the decision to cancel the upcoming Paris men’s and couture fashion weeks.
“In light of the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic worldwide, strong decisions are required to ensure the safety and health of houses, their employees, and everyone working in our industry,” the Fédération wrote in a statement for the fashion industry.
The spring/summer 2021’s menswear shows were originally scheduled to run from 23 to 28 June. The anticipated haute couture shows were set to take place in the weeks following running from 5 to 9 July.
In Italy, Camera Nazionale della Moda, the body that oversees Italian fashion, has postponed the upcoming Milan menswear shows too. The shows that were set to take place from the 19 to 23 June will now happen at the same time as the Milan Fashion Week’s womenswear showing. In America, the CFDA has also postponed its menswear week and has called for designers to cancel resortwear showings.
A handful of other anticipated fashion events including the Met Gala have been postponed and cancelled in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

Lending her vocals to PARTYNEXTDOOR’s track “Believe It”, it’s not quite the full return fans may have hoped for but does give a taste for what’s in store for her long-awaited new album. Rihanna’s next and ninth album was meant to be released last year, but has been delayed.
It’s been a big week for the pop diva, as she graced the cover of British Vogue. The pop star opens up about activism, her Fenty empire, and new music. “I can’t say when I’m going to drop,” she told the magazine. “But I am very aggressively working on music.”
With a full lingerie, clothing, accessory and makeup line, Fenty has built up a huge following, known for its inclusivity. Launched under the fashion giant LVMH, Rihanna became the first woman and first of colour to be added to the LVMH group. Fenty’s next big release is skincare. “Skincare, it’s the truth. It either works or it doesn’t. There’s nowhere to hide,” she says.
