A surprise twist from the French luxury swimwear brand
You have to wonder how Vilebrequin’s decision to launch a denim capsule collection came about. The brand has specialised in designer swimwear since 1971, and this seems like an unexpected detour. Had they been trying to make a pair of denim swimming trunks, perhaps?
But the collection itself is impressive, shown in Dubai recently at a preview event for Vilebrequin’s autumn-winter collection. Rooted in the brand’s DNA, and reflecting its ability to innovate, it echoes the characteristics of the 1970s, when the brand was first founded. The denim collection is a collaboration with Italian manufacturer Giada, a leader in luxury jeans.
There was eco-friendly swimwear on show too, made from recyclable fibres. And a sea turtle theme was evident throughout the range, appearing as prints and graphics in vibrant neon colours.
