Title: Central New York Film Studio Announces Unique Project, “Never Change!”
Syracuse, NY – In a striking departure from its previous projects, American High, a prominent film studio in Central New York, has announced the commencement of production for its latest film, “Never Change!” The Liverpool-based company, recognized for its lighthearted teen comedies, is shifting its narrative focus with this upcoming movie, collaborating with Hulu to bring an engaging storyline to the forefront.
The film, directed by Marty Schousboe, will follow the class of 2005 at North Meadows High School. The synopsis reveals a unique twist: the students’ senior year was abruptly halted by a catastrophic tornado that devastated half of the school. Now in their mid-30s, they are compelled to return to their hometown and officially graduate, two decades later. This blend of nostalgia and humor is underscored by the film’s logline, highlighting themes of “old flames, second chances, [and] hidden secrets.”
The script for “Never Change!” is penned by John Reynolds, who is also the only confirmed cast member at this stage. Reynolds, known for his roles in popular series such as “Stranger Things” and “Search Party,” brings his real-life age of 34 to the film’s narrative, which centers on a group of thirtysomething characters, marking a significant departure from American High’s typical youth-focused casting.
American High has established a reputation for producing over 20 feature films in the Central New York region since acquiring the former A.V. Zogg Middle School in 2017, now dubbed Syracuse Studios. This facility has served as the backdrop for several teen-centric movies, including notable titles such as “The Binge,” “Big Time Adolescence,” and “Prom Dates.” This new project represents not only a narrative shift but also an expansion into exploring diverse themes relevant to an older demographic.
The studio’s expansion does not stop at film production. They are active participants in the local creative community, producing digital sketches through “American High Shorts,” offering filmmaking courses, and planning to launch another film hub, American High South, in Georgia. This initiative reinforces their commitment to nurturing the next generation of filmmakers.
“Never Change!” will be released on Hulu under American High’s first-look deal with the streaming giant. As the film’s production progresses, further casting announcements and additional details are anticipated, building excitement within the film community and audiences alike.
The film exemplifies American High’s ongoing evolution in storytelling, mirroring the complexities and hilarities of adult life, while maintaining the characteristic humor that has won the studio a dedicated following. As the production unfolds, all eyes will be on Central New York, showcasing its burgeoning status as a vibrant hub for film and creativity.
