by Topwitty

This summer, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the LUMA Foundation and the 10th anniversary of Frank Gehry’s LUMA Tower, LUMA Arles is presenting an exciting arts program that showcases both renowned pioneers and emerging contemporary voices. The first part of the program features an interactive exhibition inspired by Van Gogh, created by the artists DRIFT from Amsterdam. Additionally, visitors can experience an installation by American artist Diana Thater depicting a robot-gardener caring for a post-apocalyptic Earth.

The second phase of the program, set to launch on June 30, includes a special curation of photos by Lee Friedlander, presented by filmmaker Joel Coen of “Fargo” and “No Country for Old Men” fame. Also debuting in this phase is a new opera titled “The Great Yes, The Great No” by South African artist William Kentridge.

These exciting offerings at LUMA Arles promise a unique and immersive experience for art enthusiasts and visitors alike. The program is a testament to the foundation’s commitment to showcasing diverse and innovative artistic perspectives.
