New Family Attraction “Stormvåg” Set to Debut at Liseberg in Summer 2026

In the summer of 2026, Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg, Sweden, is set to unveil “Stormvåg” (Storm Wave), a new family attraction bringing vibrant energy to the park’s West Coast area. This ride, designed by renowned manufacturer Art Engineering from Germany, introduces a groundbreaking Wild Swing XL model, signaling a new generation of thrill rides that are taller, larger, and faster than their predecessors.

“Stormvåg” will occupy the picturesque site formerly home to Kristallsalongen, aligning seamlessly with the charming coastal theme that characterizes the West Coast area of the park. This strategic placement not only enhances the aesthetic value of the park but also enriches the overall guest experience in this section. Kenneth Berndtsson, Operations Director at Liseberg, describes the ride as reminiscent of the classic Topspin, yet tailored for family enjoyment. “It’s got just the right amount of thrill to spark spontaneous laughter. It’s simply a ride that makes you really happy,” Berndtsson stated.

The development of this distinctive attraction is part of a broader enhancement initiative for Liseberg, which began in 2013 with the launch of Kaninlandet, a dedicated area for younger guests. Stormvåg is anticipated to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between family-friendly attractions and more adrenaline-fueled experiences within the park. It promises to add a touch of authentic Gothenburg and West Coast charm, further integrating local cultural elements into the park’s offerings.

The refreshment of the surrounding area will complement the new ride, featuring upgraded facilities such as modern restrooms and additional locker storage. Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg, emphasized the importance of Stormvåg in the park’s continuous evolution, stating, “The entire area is getting a much-anticipated upgrade, and the attraction itself becomes the perfect bridge between Kaninlandet and our more thrilling rides.”

Details surrounding the ride indicate a 14.5-meter height with a footprint of 14 m x 15 m, accommodating up to 24 guests per cycle—12 on each side. While the ride is designed to offer multiple thrilling cycles, it will not fully invert, making it suitable for a wide audience. The height requirement is set at 105 cm when accompanied by an adult, with additional limits to be confirmed post-inspection.

As anticipation builds for the summer 2026 debut of Stormvåg, Liseberg continues to focus on providing unique and memorable experiences for visitors, solidifying its reputation as a premier amusement destination in Northern Europe.
