Royal Caribbean International has announced the highly anticipated debut of its third Icon Class cruise ship, Legend of the Seas, scheduled to launch in July 2026. The new vessel will initially offer seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises departing from Barcelona, Spain. Following its debut in Europe, Legend of the Seas will transition to year-round Caribbean itineraries from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starting in November 2026. Guests can expect a range of cruise options, including six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, both of which feature a visit to Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s exclusive private island.
Michael Bayley, the president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, expressed excitement over the announcement. “On the heels of celebrating one year of the record-breaking Icon Class and the memories made by vacationers of all ages on Icon, we are thrilled to announce the name of Royal Caribbean’s third Icon Class vacation,” he stated. This ship represents a significant advancement in the cruise line’s offerings, expanding the legacy of the Icon Class and promising enhanced experiences for families and adventurers alike.
During its summer season in the Mediterranean, Legend of the Seas will enable travelers to immerse themselves in the rich histories and picturesque coastlines of France, Italy, and Spain. The ship will then make its debut in the Caribbean, where it will explore popular destinations known for their vibrant cultures and natural beauty. Notable activities during these cruises will include snorkeling in Aruba, unwinding on the beaches of Jamaica, and discovering the charm of Willemstad, Curacao.
Currently under construction in Turku, Finland, Legend of the Seas aims to redefine family vacations at sea with its innovative design. The ship will feature eight distinct neighborhoods, offering more than 40 dining options, thrilling onboard activities, and various entertainment choices suitable for all ages. Signature attractions will include the Crown’s Edge, a thrilling mix of ropes course and skywalk, along with the largest waterpark at sea, Category 6. Additionally, Legend of the Seas will boast seven pools, including Royal Bay and the adults-only Hideaway with an infinity pool, catering to diverse preferences and ensuring a comprehensive leisure experience.
In alignment with Royal Caribbean’s environmental goals, Legend of the Seas will be the company’s fourth vessel powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The ship will incorporate eco-friendly technologies, including waste heat recovery systems and shore power connections, as part of the company’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2035.
Further details regarding Legend of the Seas will be disclosed in the coming months. For those interested in securing their place on this groundbreaking vessel, early booking will be available starting February 20 for Crown & Anchor Society members, with general bookings opening soon thereafter.
