Final Call for Donations: RazorGifts Staff Holiday Giving Program Seeks Support for Local Families

As the holiday season approaches, the University of Arkansas Staff Senate is making a final appeal for donations to its RazorGifts Staff Holiday Giving Program. This year, the program has seen an unprecedented influx of applications, with 27 staff families benefiting, totaling 86 children in need of assistance. The initiative aims to spread joy and ensure that fellow staff members experience a brighter holiday season.

Individuals interested in contributing can participate in the program by purchasing gifts or making monetary donations. A convenient online gift registry has been established for those who wish to select specific items. Interested donors can access the registry by visiting www.giftster.com and searching for “Staff Senate RazorGifts.” Once in the registry, users can find the group link for “RazorGifts 2025” and browse the available selections.

Donations can be made either through direct online purchases, which can be shipped to designated locations, or by delivering gifts in person. The gifts should be delivered to Becca Clifton at RCED 140, with a deadline for all donations set for December 12. This timeline is crucial, as it allows ample time for sorting and distribution before the holidays. In addition to gifts, contributions of wrapping paper, tape, and ribbons are also welcomed, enhancing the gifting experience for the recipients.

For those who opt to provide financial assistance, purchasing Amazon gift cards via the gift registry is an option. These cards can be sent directly to ssgifts@uark.edu and will be utilized to procure any remaining items needed after the initial gift selection process concludes on December 12, 2025.

It is essential to clarify that RazorGifts is an employee-to-employee initiative, operating independently of the University of Arkansas. The program facilitates gifting to dependent children of university employees, and no university resources are involved in the initiative.

About Staff Senate

Established in 1976 under Board of Trustees Policy 810.1, the Staff Senate plays a pivotal role in advocating for the concerns and interests of university personnel. The elected body makes recommendations to university leadership on issues impacting work life, operational efficiency, and staff services within the campus community. Key areas of focus also include compensation, health and wellness, safety, and workplace conditions.

The Staff Senate fosters a culture of recognition and appreciation through various programs such as Employees of the Quarter, Staff Appreciation Week, and the annual Staff Appreciation Picnic. Monthly meetings to discuss staff issues and celebrate achievements are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 1:30 to 3 p.m. These meetings are open to the public and can be attended both in person and virtually. Additional information about meeting details, current senators, and various programs can be found on the Staff Senate website.

The RazorGifts program embodies the spirit of community and generosity during the holiday season, aiming to ensure that all staff families can share in the joy of giving and receiving during this special time of year.
