The City of Berkeley Civic Arts Program is excited to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome a new artwork by Artist Mildred Howard into the City’s public art collection. The event, titled “Delivered, Mable’s Promissory Note” by Mildred Howard, will take place on Sunday, June 16 at 11:30am at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Adeline Street, south of the Ashby BART Station.

Speakers at the event will include Aya de Leon, City of Berkeley Poet Laureate, Mayor Jesse Arreguin, City of Berkeley, Ben Bartlett from City Council District 3, Carole Davis Kennerly, Former Vice Mayor of Berkeley, Dr. Stephanie Anne Johnson, Former Chair of City of Berkeley Civic Arts Commission, Dana Blecher, Chair of City of Berkeley Civic Arts Commission, John ‘Chip’ Moore III, Planning Commissioner and Police Accountability Member, and the artist herself, Mildred Howard.

The Civic Arts Program aims to build a stronger sense of community and connection by commissioning artists to create works that not only enhance the built environment but also reflect the unique character of the city.
